He's grown up a bit since his stint on "Who's the Boss," and now Danny Pintauro will be playing a naive street hustler trying to make it in New York City in The Velocity of Gary (Not His Real Name), to run at San Francisco's New Conservatory Theatre Sept. 6-30, officially opening Sept. 9. Mark Cannistraro directs the piece, a co-production with SourceWorks.

The Velocity of Gary traces an innocent gay man's travels through the bizarre world of Manhattan as he meets porn stars, deaf drag queens and a dog named Randy. With only his lucky pair of leopard print underwear and his belief that "anything can happen," Gary attempts to survive his new life on the seedy side of the Big Apple's streets. But it may be his friendship with Valentino and his girlfriend Mary Carmen that teaches him the most about himself.

Pintauro, who was Jonathan Bower on "Who's the Boss" for eight years, made his Off-Broadway debut with Gary. Other credits include Paula Vogel's revised production of Hot 'n' Throbbing in Washington, DC and the role of Bosey in Charlotte Repertory Theatre's production Gross Indecency.

Playwright Still is a playwright-in-residence at Indiana Repertory Theatre in Indianapolis. Other works include And Then They Came for Me (George Street Playhouse and Indiana Rep) and an adaptation of John Gardner's novella, In the Suicide Mountains. (Mark Taper Forum).
