The director and choreographer will provide musical staging for The Slugbearers of Kayrol Island (or the Friends of Dr. Rushower), which is scheduled to begin performances at Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre Jan. 25, 2008. Directed by Bob McGrath, the production features songs by Mark Mulcahy and drawings and libretto by Ben Katchor. The musical, according to the Vineyard, is "set in and around Manhattan and a tropical factory-island of exploited workers."

Carrafa will then choreograph a new musical at Chicago's Goodman Theatre, The Boys Are Coming Home. Directed by Robert Falls, the new musical by songwriter Leslie Arden and librettist Rebecca Gilman is scheduled to begin previews June 21, 2008. A retelling of Much Ado About Nothing set at the end of World War II, the musical is described as such: "When the troops, led by a gregarious lady's man, return home they encounter a world whose rules (and women) are now very different. Romantic and poetic, hilarious and earthy, The Boys Are Coming Home is a tuneful celebration of a society on the eve of an exciting new era, where nothing is what it was and everything is possible."

Carrafa also told Playbill.com that he has choreographed a series of public service announcements that were written by Dirty Rotten Scoundrels composer David Yazbek. "They are black comic numbers from the 'Truth' Campaign about the perils of smoking — five different one-minute spots," said Carrafa. The PSAs, which feature a combination of live dancers and animation, will begin airing in January.
