The Laguna Playhouse production and U.S. Premiere Bernard Farrell's Kevin's Bed opened April 20 after two preview performances. The show runs through May 14.

Having had its world premiere at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, the American debut of Kevin's Bed will be directed by Laguna Playhouse artistic director, Andrew Barnicle.

In Kevin's Bed, a golden anniversary/family reunion disintegrates into something of a revival, despite the best efforts of Doris and Dan, who struggle to avoid re-living the mistakes made ten years earlier at their silver anniversary.

The Abbey Theatre (Ireland's National Theatre) has produced 11 of playwright Farrell's 17 plays. His work is also seen in the United States, Canada, the United KIngdom, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Farrell attended the opening of the Laguna Playhouse production.

Featured in the cast are Bairbre Dowling (Pauline), Redmond M. Gleeson (Dan) Geraldine Hughes (Betty), Patrick Lawlor (Kevin), Carol Mansell (Doris) Karen Stapleton (Cecily) and David Whalen (John). Tickets are $21-$40. The Laguna Playhouse's 420-seat Moulton Theatre is located at 606 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach CA. For tickets call (949) 497-2787.
