The screenings are part of NT Live, a new initiative by London's National Theatre to broadcast live performances of plays onto cinema screens around the world. NT Live will launch June 25. In the New York City area, screenings can be seen at Film Society of Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Director's Guild Theatre, Cinema Arts Centre, Fairfield University (Connecticut), Monmouth University (New Jersey) and the Shakespeare Theatre Company (Washington, DC).
The cast of the Jean Racine play — in a version by Ted Hughes — features Mirren and Dominic Cooper; Nicholas Hytner directed.

The broadcast will also be shown on screens across the United States, including the Mann Theatre in Hollywood, the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis.
