The Mikado is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W.S. Gilbert. Set in Japan, the opera, according to press notes, "explores the exotic, macabre, and humorous while satirizing British politics and institutions in the fictionalized foreign town of Titipu."
