"Each chapter of the book is a different Broadway theatre," author Tepper explained to Playbill.com in an earlier interview. "Basically, [readers] get taken through the history of the theatre through people's personal stories and through my stories — chronologically."

"Volume 1" is the first in a multi-volume series that will examine 40 legendary Broadway theatres in total. "The Untold Stories of Broadway," which covers over 65 years of theatrical history, also includes an exclusive Broadway theatre map designed by Broadway artist Justin "Squigs" Robertson.

In the first volume, readers explore the Al Hirschfield, August Wilson, Lyceum, Mark Hellinger, Marquis, Neil Simon, Richard Rodgers and Winter Garden Theatres.

According to press notes, "Highlights of 'The Untold Stories of Broadway' include what Barbra Streisand did after her final performance of Funny Girl that audiences will never forget; haunted theatres and secret passageways; producer/director Hal Prince's recollection of having to talk the eccentric star of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum off the rooftop of the Neil Simon Theatre; how far actor Jonathan Groff was willing to go in order to score tickets to Thoroughly Modern Millie; and why Jason Alexander was naked when he first met Elizabeth Taylor... and what he said to her that still bothers him to this day!"

Tepper has worked on the Broadway productions of Macbeth, The Performers and Godspell with Davenport Theatricals. She also assisted on the Broadway production of [title of show] and is the co-creator and writer of the Bistro Award-winning concert series If It Only Even Runs A Minute, which celebrates underappreciated musicals, as well as the managing editor of The Best Plays Theater Yearbook.
