News Waitresses Sing Waitress! Watch the Stardust Diner Music Video Here The real-life waitresses of Broadway’s popular singing diner take on “She Used to Be Mine” from the musical playing a few blocks away from them.

The lyrics to Sara Bareilles’ “Opening Up” are all-too real for the singing waitresses at 51st Street and Broadway, where they open up Ellen’s Stardust Diner daily. Watch above as the Stardust staff takes on “She Used to Be Mine” in a new music video.

Produced by Lisa Kranz, the music video was shot and directed by Andrew Barry Fritz with sound by Matthew Lee Patterson.

The #waitressessingingwaitress project was conceived and executed by the singing servers from Ellen’s Stardust Diner. In order of appearance, they are Lacey Angerosa, Lisa Kranz, Stacy Keele, Tara Scalesi and Jenna Miller.

“We all individually loved singing this song at the diner,” says producer and singer Kranz. “It is wrought with so much raw emotion, and we all related to it in different ways for different reasons. We also all love singing together, so it seemed obvious to me to create harmonies and add new perspective to the song. Who better to do that than waitresses who actually sing every day? And Jessie Mueller. We love Jessie Mueller.”
