Wallace Shawn's one-man play about political exploitation and personal expiation, The Fever, will open April 10 at the Fritz Theatre for a three-week run. The Fritz's artistic director Bryan Bevell will star, with direction by Karin Williams.
The play will also feature the choreography of Carol Abney and dance performances by Colleen Phillips and Shannon Snyder.
The Fever, published in 1991, was originally performed by Shawn, who conceived the play as something that could be performed in homes and other non-theatrical venues for groups of ten or twelve. The piece can also be performed by a wide range of performers -- women, men, the old and young.
Shawn's other plays include Aunt Dan and Lemon, Marie and Bruce and A Thought in Three Parts, among others. With Andre Gregory, he wrote the screenplay for "My Dinner With Andre."
The Fritz Theatre is located at 420 Third Ave. Call (619) 233-7505 for information. -- By Willard Manus
