To celebrate the release of the original Off-Broadway cast recording of Walmartopia, audience members at the Dec. 4 performance will be treated to a free CD and onstage signing following the show.

The cast album release also comes on the day that Walmartopia celebrates its 100th performance Off-Broadway. The musical began previews Off-Broadway Aug. 23, officially opened Sept. 3, and will conclude its run Dec. 30.

Cast members Cheryl Freeman, Nikki M. James, Sarah Bolt, Bradley Dean, Stephen DeRosa, John Jellison DeMond Nason, Andrew Polk, Pearl Sun, Scotty Watson and Helene Yorke will sign the original Off-Broadway cast album for fans at the Minetta Lane Theatre.

Walmartopia features the tunes "A New Age Has Begun," "American Dream," "March of the Executives," "Baby Girl," "The Future Is Ours," "A Woman's Place," "Flash Them Bootstraps," "Heave-Ho," "Walmartopia," "One-Stop Salvation," "Socialist Paradise," "These Bullets Are Freedom," "What Kind of Mother?" and "Outside the Big Box."

Penned by Catherine Capellaro (book) and Andrew Rohn (music and lyrics), Walmartopia "tells the hilarious and timely tale of Vicki Latrell, a single mom and Wal-Mart employee who speaks out against her company's working conditions and finds herself and her young daughter jettisoned to 2037, into a future where Wal-Mart dominates the entire world," according to production notes.

Walmartopia premiered in Madison, WI in 2005. The musical received critical acclaim as part of the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival. Walmartopia has direction by Daniel Goldstein, with choreography by Wendy Seyb and musical direction by August Eriksmoen.

The Walmartopia creative team includes David Korins (sets), Miranda Hoffman (costumes) and Ben Stanton (lights), and is produced by WMtopia, LLC.

Walmartopia plays the following performance schedule: Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 7 PM, with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets are priced at $65 and $45, and may be purchased online at or by calling (212) 307-4100.
