News War Horse's Joey to Appear in Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Joey, the life-size puppet horse from the National Theatre's production of War Horse, will appear as part of this year's annual Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, running on the outdoor Castle Esplanade. The Tattoo runs Aug. 2-24, but Joey will only appear through Aug. 16.

The Tattoo will also be televised by the BBC in August at a date to be confirmed. Joey will make his appearance just before the nightly firework finale, accompanied by Adrian Sutton's symphonic score for War Horse that will be performed by the Massed Military bands of 150 musicians. Horse choreography is by Toby Sedgwick, and the puppetry directors are Handspring's Basil Jones and Adrian Kohler.

War Horse, which is produced by the National Theatre, is now in its sixth year in the West End at the New London Theatre, and will launch a simultaneous U.K. and Ireland tour in September, beginning performances Sept. 27 at Plymouth's Theatre Royal.
