Classic Arts News Washington National Opera Announces Lineup for Star-Studded 50th-Anniversary Gala Washington National Opera's 50th-anniversary gala next year will include performances by Juan Diego Fl‹rez, Denyce Graves, Salvatore Licitra, Anna Netrebko, Samuel Ramey, and Plšcido Domingo, the company's general director.
The "Golden Gala" on March 19, 2006, also features Carlos Alvarez, Elizabeth Futral, Paul Groves, Alan Held, John Matz, and violinist Vadim Repin. The program will include the world premiere of an opera satire by Broadway composers Marvin Hamlisch and Sheldon Harnick, starring Domingo and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth.

The company's orchestra and chorus will perform, as will as members of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. Music director Heinz Fricke will conduct.

Tickets for the concert and a post-concert dinner on the Roof Terrance of the Kennedy Center start at $1,000; they are available by calling (202) 295-2431 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets for the concert alone are $50 to $250; they will be available later this year through the WNO box office.
