News Watch Jessie Mueller Perform from Waitress Live Sara Bareilles introduced the song during a live performance at Barnes and Noble.

Tony winner Jessie Mueller and composer Sara Bareilles were part of an August 23 live performance and signing of the original cast album of the Broadway musical Waitress.

Bareilles introduced several songs from the show, including “What Baking Can Do.” Originally titled “Door Number Three,” the song was re-imaged following the musical's premiere at the American Repertory Theater last summer.

The musical, which opened April 24, stars Mueller as a waitress and baker who longs to escape from a bad marriage.

Bareilles also recorded many of the songs on a concept album released in fall 2015.

Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress claims to be the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with book by Jessie Nelson, score by Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Diane Paulus.
