Video Watch Lindsay Mendez, Ryan Silverman, and More Give The Golden Apple New Life The cult musical returns to New York for a five-night Encores! engagement.

The Encores! presentation of The Golden Apple opened May 10 at New York City Center. The five-night engagement stars Lindsay Mendez, Ryan Silverman, Ashley Brown, Alli Mauzey, and Mikaela Bennet. Take a look clips from the concert staging above.

The video features several numbers from Jerome Moross and John Treville Latouche’s 1954 score, including “Nothin’ Ever Happens in Angle’s Roost,” “My Love Is on the Way,” and the rarely heard “We’ve Just Begun,” which was cut from the original Broadway production.

The Encores! presentation, directed by Michael Berresse and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse, will run through May 14. The cast also includes Carrie Compere, Jason Kravits, N’Kenge, and Rasta Thomas.

Despite favorable reviews, the original Broadway production of The Golden Apple ran for only 125 performances at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon). The ambitious musical is inspired by Homer’s Iliad and the Odyssey.
