On July 17 stars of Broadway, film, television, and music will gather for the ninth annual 24 Hour Musicals in Los Angeles. Actors tapped to participate in this year’s one-night-only event include Wayne Brady (Kinky Boots, Whose Line Is It Anyway?), Noah Galvin (The Real O’Neals), Michelle Visage (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Garrett Clayton (Hairspray Live!), Janina Gavankar (True Blood), Alicia Witt (The Walking Dead), and Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).
Playwright Lydia Diamond will be the featured speaker for the evening. Further casting will be announced at a later date, as well as the names of the composers, writers, and directors who will create the new musicals overnight.

The 24 Hour Musicals will take place July 17 at the United Artists Theater at Ace Hotel. The theatrical event sees a team of artists write, compose, rehearse, and perform four original musicals within a 24-hour time period, all in the name of charity.
The funds raised will support the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund, a nonprofit organization which advocates for the freedom of expression on behalf of those confronting censorship on the American stage.
“We’ve staged many memorable evenings of The 24 Hour Plays in Los Angeles, while The 24 Hour Musicals have run off-Broadway for eight wonderful years,” said Mark Armstrong, executive director of The 24 Hour Plays. “This July, we’ll bring together the best of both events for a magical evening of musical theater in one of the country’s most beautiful venues. We’re particularly proud, in this moment, to support the great work of the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund, which supports playwrights and defends freedom of expression.”
The 24 Hour Musicals is presented by The 24 Hour Plays, which brings artists together to create fast-paced theatre on Broadway and around the world. For more information visit 24hourplays.com.
