Silver Nitrate, which will begin previews Oct. 14 at Blue Heron Arts Center, is set in the Weimer Republic just before World War II. The characters are a group of photographers who keep to their studios until world events invade their cloistered lives. Starring are Robert Boardman, Aviva Jane Carlin, Pierce Craven, Meg Gibson, Katie Kreisler, Jordan Meadows, Samatha Soule and Chandler Vinton. Gwynn MacDonald directs. McDonald is the artistic director of the Juggernaut Theatre Company, which staged Lapis Blue Blood Red.

Caplan—who has an affection for titles composed of baroque nouns—also co-wrote hair blood vinyl with Rinde Eckert.

Silver nitrate is an irritant compound which turns black when it comes in contact with organic matter. It is used as a chemical reagent in photography.

Silver Nitrate will open on Oct. 21 and run until Nov. 16. Tickets are $25. Call (212) 868-4444.
