West Coast Expected to Get a Load of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in Summer 2006

News   West Coast Expected to Get a Load of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in Summer 2006
The national tour of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has been announced for an October 2006 engagement in Dallas, but where will the tour start?

No official announcement has been made, but Playbill.com has learned that Seattle's Paramount Theatre is the likely tech and launch pad for the tour in early August 2006.

As Las Vegas enjoys an exclusive West Coast booking of Monty Python's Spamalot in the coming season(s), major markets along the coast will have a chance to devour the fresh Dirty Rotten Scoundrels — a big sexy romp whose main Tony Awards competition in 2005 was Spamalot. (The Best Musical winner was Spamalot, itself a big sexy romp.)

The only regional presenter that has gone public with Dirty Rotten tour dates (as far as Playbill.com can determine) is Dallas Summer Musicals, which will serve up the David Yazbek-Jeffrey Lane show at the Music Hall at Fair Park Oct. 3-22, 2006.

Jack O'Brien will again direct, and Jerry Mitchell returns as choreographer for the national tour, which rehearses in July 2006.

John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz continue in the titles roles on Broadway, at the Imperial Theatre. No casting has been announced for the road. Jonathan Pryce is expected to succeed Lithgow in the role of Lawrence Jameson on Broadway in early 2006. For more information, visit www.dirtyrottenscoundrelsthemusical.com.
