If you haven't caught Second Guess Theatre Company's premiere of Hollywood Babylon, written and directed by Second Guess founder Joe Landry, well, better luck next time. The show, which opened March 26, ends its scheduled run April 10 at Westport, CT's MTC Studio Theatre, 246 Post Road East. The remaining performances are sold out.
The show, loosely based on "The Wizard of Oz" and "A Star is Born," follows Dorothy (inspired by Judy Garland) a girl from Kansas who has dreams of being a movie star. Upon her arrival in Hollywood she encounters some of Hollywood's biggest upcoming talents. She also sees and becomes a part of some of the most notorious scandals, including a few made-up ones. It is through this interaction that she and the other characters learn that fame has a price.
The cast includes Jennifer Doorly as Dorothy, Nancy Elyne Brier as Gloria Swanson, Tom Petrone as Max, Michael Fass as James Dean, and Shelley Marsh as Marilyn Monroe. Also featured are John R. Smith, Jim Moscater and Rosanne Nelson.
