WET (Women's Expressive Theater) will present the world premiere of Scab , a dark comedy about friendship, laughter and self-discovery, beginning Feb. 23 at The Greenwich Street Theater. It is written by Sheila Callaghan, who won the 2000 Princess Grace Award and the 2001 Jerome Fellowship. Towards the beginning of Scab , an drama queen, Anima, is immobilized by the death of her father. Her new roommate, Christa, is studying the women of Belle Epoque. The two are drawn together into a unique and intense friendship that profoundly acts their lives. Other characters include a talking Virgin Mary ornament, a bloodthirsty plant, a three-headed academic monster and a mom stuck in a 1950's sitcom.
Scab is directed by Hayley Finn and some of the actors featured are Shannon Burkett ( The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told ), David Wheir ( Urbina ), Sasha Eden (Moonwork, Inc.'s A Midsummer Night's Dream ), and Anne Carney.
Scab will be running from Feb. 23 though March 16, Wednesday Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 7:00 pm.
