PlayBlog Will Catherine Zeta-Jones Play Elizabeth Taylor for Mike Nichols? Tony and Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is one of several movie stars who have expressed interest in playing Elizabeth Taylor in a forthcoming film based on her tempestuous relationship with Richard Burton.

According to etonline.com, veteran stage and screen director Mike Nichols may direct the film, which will be based on the book “Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and the Marriage of the Century,” by Sam Kasher and Nancy Schoenberger.

In addition to Zeta-Jones, Academy Award winner Angeline Jolie has also expressed interest in playing Taylor (who played Broadway in The Little Foxes and, in a post-second-divorce reunion with Burton, in Private Lives). Among the names mentioned to play Burton (who won a Tony for Camelot and also appeared in Time Remembered, Hamlet and Equus) are stage veteran and Oscar nominee Clive Owen, Oscar winner Russell Crowe and Colin Farrell.
