Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife, Quills) is writing the untitled screenplay, about George as he was creating the 1935 folk opera Porgy and Bess. He died at age 38 of a brain tumor two years after the Broadway bow of Porgy and Bess, which he wrote with DuBose Heyward and brother Ira Gershwin. "It's an absolute go," Feinstein said of the picture. "I'm co-producing it with Marc Platt. They have been talking to Zachary Quinto about playing George."

Darkly handsome Quinto, a Carnegie Mellon graduate with musical theatre roots, played Spock in the 2009 "Star Trek" film and is evil villain Sylar on the NBC-TV series "Heroes." Quinto won the Pittsburgh CLO 1994 Gene Kelly Award for his high school performance in The Pirates of Penzance.

No casting, director or release date has been announced for the picture.

Concert and cabaret star Feinstein, who worked with Ira Gershwin in his final years, is currently starring in Broadway's All About Me. Read Harry Haun's On Opening Night report about All About Me.
