News Will Lane and Broderick Extend as Bway's Producers? It will surprise few that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are in discussions for an extension of their current return to Broadway's The Producers, but nothing is signed in ink yet, a spokesman said.

Variety's Army Archerd reported Jan. 22 that Lane and Broderick, who jumped back into the show Dec. 30 for a 112-performance run to April 4, will extend to April 25.

A spokesman said discussions for an extension are indeed underway, but could not confirm Jan. 22 that Lane and Broderick would play in the show past the previously announced run dates.

The run featuring the duo — and the return of Roger Bart as Carmen Ghia and Gary Beach as Roger DeBris — is sold out, leaving ticketless theatregoers dreaming of the daily standing-room-only lines that will form — or dreaming of a possible extension, which would cause another feeding frenzy of ticketbuyers.
