News   Will Laura Osnes and Steven Pasquale Ride a Carousel to Broadway?
Although no announcement has been made about the Lyric Opera of Chicago's current production of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's Carousel heading to New York, considering the Broadway names involved onstage and backstage, there is already buzz about a possible transfer, courtesy of leading man Stephen Pasquale.

About a Broadway run, Pasquale, who plays Billy Bigelow, told the Chicago Sun-Times, "I guess we all have evil, secret plans that it might happen…But we’re not thinking about that now."

Pasquale previously broke the news of the Chicago Carousel to Playbill.com in October 2014, explaining, "I'm working on 'The Good Wife' through the fall, and I'm going to do Carousel in the spring in Chicago at the Chicago Lyric Opera. It's a great role, and I hope we bring it in. Rob Ashford's directing."

Directed and choreographed by Tony, Emmy and Olivier Award winner Ashford, the cast is headed by two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes as Julie Jordan, Pasquale as Billy Bigelow, Jenn Gambatese as Carrie Pipperidge and opera singer Denyce Graves as Nettie Fowler.

These artists are joined by Matthew Hydzik (Enoch Snow), Tony Award winner Jarrod Emick (Jigger Craigin) and two-time Tony Award nominees Charlotte d'Amboise (Mrs. Mullin) and Tony Roberts (Starkeeper).

Carousel is conducted by Broadway veteran David Chase. The production also has set design by Paolo Ventura, costume design by Tony winner Catherine Zuber and lighting design by Neil Austin. Michael Black is the chorus master.

Carousel plays the Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Dr., Chicago. Tickets start at $29, and are now available at lyricopera.org/carousel or at (312) 827-5600.
