Boggess, who will also play the role of soprano Sharon in the spring Broadway revival of Terrence McNally's Master Class, took part in an earlier London industry reading of Rebecca.

Ben Sprecher, who had planned to produce Rebecca in London prior to Broadway, will now bring the $16 million musical straight to New York, according to the Post. Michael Blakemore will direct.

No official announcement about a Broadway production has been made.

The musical features original book and lyrics by Michael Kunze, music by Sylvester Levay, English book adaptation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard) and English lyrics by Hampton and Kunze.

Based on the classic novel (and later turned into an Oscar-winning film by Alfred Hitchcock), Rebecca is the story of Maxim de Winter, his new wife (Sierra Boggess) and Mrs. Danvers, the housekeeper of his West Country estate of Manderley — where the memory of his first wife, the glamorous and mysterious Rebecca, still casts a shadow." Rebecca had its world premiere in 2006 at Vereinigte Buhnen Wien in Vienna, where it played to sold-out houses totaling more than three years.

"Rebecca," which was also a 1940 Academy Award-winning film by Alfred Hitchcock, is a suspense novel by British writer du Maurier that begins with the famous line, "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again."

The story's (unnamed) narrator tells of her marriage to Maxim de Winter and their life at the West Country estate of Manderley, where the memory of de Winter's dead first wife, Rebecca, casts a shadow on the estate.
