Vanessa Williams, Peter Gallagher, George Hamilton, Elizabeth Franz, Steven Tobolowsky and Len Cariou have been added to the list of Broadway favorites who will take part in the fourth annual Broadway Barks event, scheduled for Saturday, July 13.

Broadway Barks 4!, hosted by pet advocates Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, will again be held in New York's Shubert Alley, located between 44th and 45th Streets (between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). Moore and Peters will be joined by a plethora of Broadway performers, who will appear in a special Adopt-a-Thon for New York City animal shelters and rescue groups. Attendees can expect to see such previously announced stage luminaries as Gary Beach, Gavin Creel, John Cullum, Stephen DeRosa, Julie Haggerty, Harriet Harris, Neil Patrick Harris, Marilu Henner, Buck Henry, Shuler Hensley, Spencer Kayden, Richard Kind, Marc Kudisch, Andrea Martin, Howard McGillin, John McMartin, Phyllis Newman, Kerry O'Malley, Nancy Opel, Brad Oscar, Rhea Perlman, Louise Pitre, Alicia Silverstone and Patrick Wilson.

In conjunction with the fundraising event, Peters will appear on FOX-TV's "Good Day New York" on July 12 and on CBS-TV's "The Early Show" on July 13. "Good Day New York" airs in the metropolitan area from 7 to 9 AM ET on Channel 5. "The Early Show" airs on Channel 2 beginning at 7 AM ET. Check local listings for schedules around the country.

The "cause for paws," which begins at 3:30 PM, will include celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters around the city from 5:30 to 6:30 PM; the goal is to help find permanent homes for many of New York City's shelter animals. The afternoon will also include an auction of celebrity signed memorabilia. Additional merchandise is currently available on ebay.com using the key words "Broadway Barks."

Rain date is July 20. *

Actress and pet lover Mary Tyler Moore recently commented, "We have a real chance to make a difference. We can turn the enthusiasm around pet adoption that we've been able to generate through Broadway Barks, into a movement to save the lives of the 40,000 potential 'best friends' needlessly put to death every year here in New York. Through our individual acts of kindness and our joined voices in this important cause, we can make New York a 'no kill' city, and by doing so, make it a better place, a kinder place for us all."

Peters, who will return to Broadway this season in a new production of the classic musical Gypsy, adopted both her dogs, Kramer and Stella, from the ASPCA and CACC. The two-time Tony winner explains, "When you consider that over a seven-year period, one female dog and her offspring can produce as many as 76,000 offspring, spaying and neutering becomes a top priority in reducing the 40,000 unwanted dogs and cats that are euthanized each year in New York City alone."

Among the shelters who will contribute pets to Broadway Barks 4! include A Cause for Paws, Animal Haven, ASPCA, BARC Shelter, Bide-A-Wee, Bobbi and the Strays, CACC, City Critters, The Humane Society of New York, Kitty Kind, Long Island Greyhound Rescue, Loving Touch, Manhattan Valley Cat Rescue, Northeastern Boxer, New York Pet-I-Care, PLUTO Rescue, SICAW, Strays from the Heart and The Tigger Foundation. Proceeds from the auction and other donations received on July 13 will benefit the various shelters and organizations.
