Next month, Birdland will offer these three acclaimed evenings. Ruth Williamson's Pure Heaven: The Music of Kay Thompson will be presented Nov. 1; Suzzanne Douglas' Lucky to Be Me will be offered Nov. 15; and An Evening with Penny Fuller is set for Nov. 22. Show time for each evening is 7 PM. Pure Heaven: The Music of Kay Thompson, which includes songs from Thompson's 1950's club act with the Williams Brothers, features direction by Michael Bush, musical direction by Dana P. Rowe and musical supervision by Joel Silberman. Brent Winborn will make a special guest appearance during Williamson's show.
Lucky to Be Me celebrates the music of jazz great Abbey Lincoln and features direction by Ted Sod, musical direction by Dr. Guy Ramsey and a guest appearance by Jim Speake.
A mix of theatre songs and popular music will be heard in An Evening with Penny Fuller, which is directed by Barry Kleinbort with musical direction by David Gaines. Nancy Lee Bach will guest at Fuller's show.
Michael Bush and Alexander Fraser are producers of this series of highlights from the Cabaret and Performance Conference.
