News Williamstown Fest Dedicates Final Show to Late Actor Christopher Reeve Roger Rees, the new artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, has announced that the final performance of every WTF season will be dedicated to the memory of the late actor Christopher Reeve.

Christopher Reeve died of heart failure Oct. 10 in a Mount Kisco, NY, hospital. He was 52. Though known to the world for the "Superman" movies, Reeve was a stalwart at Williamstown, performing in many plays before and after achieving movie fame.

Following the final matinee performance of Bus Stop on Aug. 28, cast members will collect donations for the Christopher Reeve Foundation (CRF).  Further donations may be made directly through CRF's website www.christopherreeve.org.

In subsequent years a fund will be established at WTF to support artists with disabilities who wish to train or work at WTF.  The proceeds of future final performances will be directed to this fund.

According to the festival, Reeve began his acting career at 15 as an apprentice at WTF. His festival credits include Love Letters, The Guardsman, Death Takes a Holiday, John Brown's Body, Summer and Smoke, The Royal Family, and Holiday. Reeve met his wife, Dana, at Williamstown in 1987.

The Christopher Reeve Foundation (CRF) is committed to "funding research that develops treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other central nervous system disorders. The Foundation also vigorously works to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities through its grants program, paralysis resource center and advocacy efforts." Since 1982, CRF has awarded over $53 million in research grants to the world's best neuroscientists.
