Lawrence Klein has been tapped as the new director of development at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, it was announced.

He be responsible for preparing and managing WTF's annual fund drive as well as planning the Festival's annual fundraising benefits. “WTF is thrilled to be able to add someone with Lawrence’s fundraising skills and experience to our staff,” said artistic director Roger Rees.  “I am confident that Lawrence will be a great friend and tremendous asset to the Festival.”

In the past, Klein was founder and chairman of New York City's Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. He is also a member of the New York County Lawyers Association, served as Counsel for technology companies as well as working with many non-profits, artists, and arts organizations in a pro bono capacity.

"My parents have a home in Lee and I went to college in Worcester, so I am very fond of Massachusetts and a big fan of the Williamstown Theatre Festival and its impressive history of supporting talented artists and putting on wonderful productions," said Klein in a statement. "I'm excited to be back in Western Massachusetts and looking forward to helping the Festival raise the funds necessary to support the Festivals productions as well as many and varied  programs that make the Festival so special to the community of Williamstown and the world of theatre at large."
