The Willows Cabaret at The Campbell Theatre, located in Martinez, CA, has announced that it will present the various versions of Nunsense year-round. Presented by the Willows Theatre Company — headed by artistic director Richard Elliott and managing director Andrew Holtz — the new theatre will kick off with the original Nunsense May 9. Performances will play through July 29 with an official opening May 12.

Nunsense creator Dan Goggin will direct the production, which will feature musical staging by Teri Gibson. The cast comprises Deborah Del Mastro as Sister Robert Anne, Tania Johnson as Sister Mary Leo, Alexandra Kaprielian as Sister Mary Amnesia, Alma Sayles as Sister Mary Hubert and Amy Washburn as Sister Mary Regina.

The venue will also house The Nunsense Museum, which will include memorabilia from Nunsense productions around the globe.

Following this 20th anniversary production of Nunsense will be Sister Amnesia's Country Western Nunsense Jamboree (Aug. 15-Oct. 14) and Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical (Oct. 31-Dec. 30). Audiences can also expect productions of Nunsense 2: The Second Coming, Meshuggah Nuns, Nunsense A-Men and Nunsensations: The Nunsense Vegas Revue. A DVD of the latter will be released shortly.

Goggin's Nunsense, according to press notes, "follows a fictitious order of merry nuns, the 'Little Sisters of Hoboken,' as they put on a fund-raising show at their school, Mt. St. Helen's (home of the Volcanoes)." Nunsense premiered in Manhattan at the Duplex Cabaret in 1983, later moving to the Cherry Lane Theatre, where it won four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical. The revue later transferred to the Douglas Fairbanks Theatre, where it played for a decade. Over 8,000 productions of the musical have since been presented worldwide.

The Willows Cabaret at The Campbell Theatre is located at 636 Ward Street in Martinez, CA.
