News Winfrey to Voice Character in Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" Media mogul Oprah Winfrey will lend her voice to the forthcoming Disney animated musical "The Princess and the Frog."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Winfrey will voice the character of Eudora, the mother of Princess Tiana, who is portrayed by Tony Award-winning actress Anika Noni Rose. Disney has reset the Grimm Brothers fairy tale in New Orleans during the Jazz Age. The film, featuring Disney's first-ever African-American princess, also boasts the talents of John Goodman, Jenifer Lewis, Peter Bartlett and Jennifer Cody.

"The Princess and the Frog" is written and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who together delivered "Aladdin" and "The Little Mermaid" to Disney. Randy Newman has penned six songs for the film that is aiming for a December 2009 theatrical release.

In addition to her popular television talk show, Winfrey has leant her voice to the animated films "Charlotte's Web" and "Bee Movie." Her film appearances include "Beloved," "Before Women Had Wings," "There Are No Children Here" and "The Color Purple," for which she served as the producer of the 2005 Broadway musical adaptation.
