News Winners of WonderLand One-Act Festival Announced Winners of the first annual WonderLand One-Act Festival — which featured the presentation of 60 plays from May 24-June 8 at the Studio Theatre on Theatre Row — were announced at a gala ceremony June 9.

Playwright Andrew Biss received top honors for his one-act, Indigenous Peoples. The award comes with a $1,000 grand prize. Other winners in the Festival included Danny Mittermeyer (Best Actor for M/21 Bellevue), Nicole Heriot (Best Actress for Indigenous Peoples), Kimberlea Kressal (Best Director for Sandwich) and Terence Hughes (Best Playwright for Farewell Evenbrook). The Best Ensemble Cast prize was awarded to the company of Asylum. The Festival, which was presented by You Are Here Productions, featured four elimination rounds: The initial 60 plays in the Roller Coaster Round were whittled down to 20, which proceeded to the Ferris Wheel Round June 5 and 6. Ten of those plays were selected for the Merry Go Round on June 7, and three were then chosen to be part of the Free Fall Round on June 8.
