News Wirehead to Make World Premiere in Los Angeles Los Angeles' Echo Theater Company will stage the world premiere of Matthew Benjamin and Logan Brown's Wirehead, which will begin performances Feb. 11.

Larry Biederman will direct the comedy that will officially open Feb. 13 and run through March 14 at Stage 52. Lauren Bass and Chris Fields produce for Echo Theater Company.

The cast will feature Jeremy Maxwell, Riel Paley, Ethan Phillips, Marc Rose, Amanda Saunders and Sam Shelton.

"Wirehead," according to press notes, "is a hilarious and provocative cautionary tale that contemplates the evolving synthesis of technology and humanity. Wires, chips and chargers designed to enhance the mind prove too good for the mind to handle. Short-circuited by resentment and jealousy in the hands of humans, too much intelligence now possessed by the non-human electronic elements has riotous and gruesome results."

Wirehead will have set design by Efren Delgadillo, Jr., lighting design by Dan Weingarten, sound design by Drew Dalzell and costume design by Audrey Eisner.

John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) staged a 2007 reading of Wirehead at Ars Nova, featuring Michael Aronov and Josh Hamilton. For tickets, priced $20, phone (800) 413-8669 or visit EchoTheaterCompany. Stage 52 is located at 5299 W. Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles.
