The Strange Case of Mary Lincoln, heard in workshop at the York Theatre in Jan., 2001, is the story of a fascinating woman confined to a sanitorium by her son, who fights him and the system in an attempt to regain her freedom. Carmel Owen wrote the music and lyrics with a book by June Bingham. Victoria Pero directs this work-in-progress.

Author Carson McCullers, whose works include "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" and The Member of the Wedding, is the subject of Schulman's Historically Inaccurate, tracing her evolution from Lula Carson Smith to a writer whose "Heart Is a Lonely Hunter" was named one of the top twenty novels in English in the 20th Century. Directed by McClinton (Breath, Boom, Jitney), Historically Inaccurate runs Jan. 10-Feb. 3, 2002 at Women's Project Theatre.

In March, 2002, Women's Project hosts Deborah Baley Brevoort's The Women of Lockerbie, directed by Yale Repertory Theatre resident director Liz Diamond. In the drama, a mother from New Jersey and her husband travel to Lockerbie, Scotland after the terrorist bombing of Flight 103 which killed their son. There they encounter the benevolent women of Lockerbie who meet an act of hate with a sense of love. Brevoort is the author of King Island Christmas, Coyote Goes Salmon Fishing, Wet Willies and Into the Fire.
