Performances will begin July 27 under the direction of writer Roger Bean, who also directed and penned Wonderettes. Lee Martino choreographs with musical direction by Michael Paternostro; opening night is scheduled for Aug. 7.

The cast will comprise Doug Carpenter as Skip, Justin Michael Duval as Wally, Jim Holdridge as Eugene, Daniel Tatar as Denny and Jessica Keenan Wynn as Lois.

Life Could Be a Dream concerns the boy band The Crooning Crabcakes, a fictional group referenced in Wonderettes. The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "Now in an era before 'American Idol,' and 'Star Search,' the guys get one more chance at fame and fortune as Denny and his friend Eugene form a singing group so they can enter and win the local radio contest on Big Whopper Radio and realize their dreams of making it to the big time! With the help of their best friend Wally and their new friend Skip, this is the best quartet of singers since, well, you know who! Trouble comes in the form of Lois, who arrives to help put some polish on the group but who also broke Eugene's heart many years before at their Junior Prom. As Eugene falls apart, Skip, Wally and Denny fall in love - and hilarity and heartaches ensue! Will Lois and one of the boys find true love? Will these delightfully goofy guys be able to pull it together and win the contest?" Among the songs featured in the new production are "The Great Pretender," "Unchained Melody," "Earth Angel" and "Sh-Boom."

The production will feature scenic design by Tom Buderwitz, lighting design by Ovation Award winner Luke Moyer, sound design by Cricket S. Myers and costume design by Shon LeBlanc.

Life Could Be a Dream was previously seen in Milwaukee. Significant revisions have been made for the show's upcoming Los Angeles premiere. Producers are David Elzer, Peter Schneider and Crooning Crabcakes, LLC. Performances will continue through Sept. 27.

Show times will be Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 3 and 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
