News Wood Sells Out NYMF Run; Additional Performance Added
The limited engagement of the New York Musical Theatre Festival production of Julianne Wick Davis and Dan Collins' musical Wood, starring Tony winner Cady Huffman, has sold out.

All tickets for the initial six-performance run, which plays Sept. 15, 17,19, 20, 25 and 28 at the Barrow Group Theatre, have been sold. In response to the brisk sale, producers have added an additional performance on Sept. 21 at 4:30 PM for which tickets are now available.

"I am thrilled to announce that Wood is our first show to sell out its initial six performances. With the many successful commercial productions that have come from NYMF in previous years, I'm excited by how much potential this year has in store," NYMF executive director and producer Isaac Robert Hurwitz said in a statement.

Thomas Caruso directs the modern day re-imagining of A Midsummer Night's Dream that features Jason Michael Snow as the boy at the center of the story with Huffman as his mother.

"When a young man sneaks away to the seedy wood on the outskirts of his normal town, his community is forced to face the secrets, desires and dreams long relegated to the shadowy confines at the fringe of their society," state NYMF notes for Wood. "The result is a night complete with spandex-clad color guard enthusiasts, shirtless Christians, quarreling divas, undercover mothers and a trio of Fairies who sing, dance and put En Vogue to shame from the stalls of a public men's room."

The cast also features Stanley Bahorek (Putnam County Spelling Bee), Joe Cassidy (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Maurice Murphy (Putnam County Spelling Bee), Ryan Ratliff (Altar Boyz), Roland Rusinek (Jerry Springer the Opera), Patrick Ryan Sullivan (42nd Street), Ben Thompson (High School Musical) and Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde). NYMF membership sales began May 16, and individual ticket sales began Sept. 1.

Also among the best-selling NYMF productions are Hunter Foster and Rick Crom's Bonnie & Clyde: A Folktale; Drew Fornarola and Scott Elmegreen’s COLLEGE: the Musical; James Millar and Peter Rutherford's The Hatpin; Matthew Loren Cohen's Jason and Ben; and Matt Prager's She Can't Believe She Said That!

Wood will play the Barrow Group Theatre, located at 312 West 36th Street.
