News World Premiere of A Play on War Opens Off-Broadway Feb. 16 Jenny Connell and Rubén Polendo's Brecht-inspired drama A Play on War officially opens Off-Broadway Feb. 16 after previews that began Feb. 12 at the Connelly Theater.

The National Asian American Theatre Company presents the premiere that is directed by co-author Polendo. Performances continue through March 16.

A Play on War features Mia Katigbak, Jon Norman Schneider, Nikki Calonge, Orville Mendoza, Marcus Ho, Brian Hirono, Nathan Elam and Bushra Laskar.

Inspired by Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, the play, according to press notes, "incorporates abstractions of musical theatre, Arabic clowning, and Peking opera to create a new ferocious comedy about a war-torn landscape populated by characters on bicycles, all desperate to survive."

The creative team includes Justin Nestor (set design), Kate Ashton (lighting design), Candida K. Nichols (costume design), with original compositions and live music by Adam Cochran.

For tickets, phone (212) 352-3101. The Connelly Theater is located at 220 East 4th Street. Visit NAATCO.
