Tony nominee and Intiman artistic director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific) stages the production that began performances May 30. The limited engagement runs through June 22.

Born in a U.S. military hospital in Korea, Weems is the son of a U.S. State Department officer. He stars in his work that recounts his international upbringing and "current-day life as an actor in New York, and his quest to understand what it means to go home. His traveling companions are all the characters he meets along the way, especially his mother—a mysterious, 'undiscovered country' in her own right," according to press notes.

Commonly used as a salutation in India, namaste translates to "I bow to you."

Designing the Intiman premiere are Elizabeth Caitlin Ward (scenic and costume design), Greg Sullivan (lighting design), Peter John Still (sound design) and Mame Hunt (dramaturg).

Weems has appeared in the Broadway mountings of Inherit the Wind and The Green Bird. He has previously worked with Sher on productions of Pericles and Cymbeline, as well as in the Intiman stagings of Three Sisters and Arms and the Man.
