Classic Arts News Wynton Marsalis to Speak at National Press Club October 20 Trumpeter and Jazz at Lincoln Center artistic director Wynton Marsalis will speak at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on October 20.
Marsalis, a native of New Orleans, will speak about the rebuilding of the city after Hurricane Katrina.

Since the storm, Marsalis has become a passionate spokesman for his home city and its musical traditions. Among other efforts, he helped to organize Jazz at Lincoln Center's "Higher Ground" benefit on September 17, which was broadcast nationwide and raised more than $2 million.

Tickets for the NPC luncheon, which begins at 12:30 p.m., are $35 for non-members. Call 202-662-7501 to make a reservation.
