Classic Arts News Yo-Yo Ma's Collection of Morricone Music Stays Atop Classical Chart Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone, the star cellist's collection of music from the film composer's scores, remains the top-selling classical-music recording, according to the latest Billboard classical chart.
The album, which features the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra, includes music from The Mission, Once Upon a Time in the West, and The Untouchables.

Ma's previous release, Vivaldi's Cello, is also on the chart, dropping from the fifth position last week to number eight.

Joshua Bell's 2003 Romance of the Violin, which adapts opera arias and other familiar tunes, jumped from number nine to number three. Also posting sales gains was Lorraine Hunt Lieberson's Handel: Arias from Theodora, with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, which has moved from number 13 to number six over the last two weeks.

On the classical crossover chart, Josh Groban's year-old Closer moved back into the number one spot, bumping Andrea Bocelli's Andrea to number two.
