News York to Offer Free Limited Run of New Musical Yellow Wood The York Theatre Company will present seven free performances of The Yellow Wood, a recipient of the 2006 Richard Rodgers Development Award.

Directed by Rebecca Lynn Brown, the cast for the limited run will include Melinda Bass, Randy Blair, Michael Greenwood, Leigh Ann Larkin, Ted Malawer, Adam Monley, Nina Negri, Brynn O'Malley, Pearl Sun, Jason Williams and Paul Wyatt. Chris Littlefield is music director. The Yellow Wood features music by Daniel Larsen and a book by Larsen and Michelle Elliott. The musical, according to press notes, "follows a teen with Attention Deficit Disorder on his journey to self-acceptance. Seventeen-year-old Adam is frantically trying to memorize Robert Frost's poem 'The Road Not Taken' to recite in his English class, but because he didn’t take his Ritalin on this particular morning, he can’t get much farther than the first line, 'Two roads diverged in a yellow wood…' before an amazing yellow wood begins to grow right there in his high school. Desperate to prove he's beaten his disorder, he struggles to memorize the poem—and as it begins to take on a life of its own, Adam is pulled deeper and deeper into the yellow wood, where he must decide which road he will travel.

Show times are Feb. 16 at 11 AM, Feb. 22 and 23 at 3:30 PM, Feb. 26 at 7:30 PM and Feb. 27, March 1 and 2 at 3:30 PM.

The York Theatre at St. Peter's is located in Manhattan at 54th Street between Lexington Avenue and Third Avenue. Although admission is free, reservations are required by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 21.
