A.C. Ciulla, the dancer-choreographer making his Broadway choreography debut with Footloose, was nominated for a Tony Award in the category of Best Choreography.
He has choreographed for a number of recording artists, including Billy Porter, Deborah Gibson and Freedom Williams of C&C Music Factory. He also choreographed for TV variety programs, commercials and appeared in the company of Broadway's Starlight Express.
He conceived, directed and choreographed Hollywood to Broadway at Tatou in New York City.
In 1998 previews, Grease! choreographer Jeff Calhoun was invited to edit or offer ideas about some of Ciulla's work, but cast members told Playbill On-Line the athletic strutting and aggressive footwork that are the core of Footloose are pure Ciulla.
