Tom Wopat, the onetime TV heartthrob of "The Dukes of Hazzard," is Tony nominated for Best Actor in a Musical for playing Frank Butler, the love interest of Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun.

Opposite Bernadette Peters he gets to sing "Old-Fashioned Wedding" and "Anything You Can Do," as well as a jazzily-reconceived version of "My Defenses Are Down" (surrounded by men) staged by Graciela Daniele and Jeff Calhoun.

Wopat, despite his TV persona (he was also seen on "Cybill"), began performing when he was 12 and acted in college musicals. He made his Broadway debut in Cy Coleman's I Love My Wife, and later played Stone in City of Angels and Sky Masterson in the Jerry Zaks revival of Guys and Dolls.

Wopat has performed in summer stock, Off-Broadway, regionally, in symphony concerts (Carnegie Hall, with the Cincinnati Symphony) and was a CBS and Capitol Records artist who had a number of Top 20 hits.

This is his first Tony nomination.
