The second annual "Boston Women on Top Theatre Festival" opens Jan. 29 with a production of Renita Martin's Lo, She Comes, an exploration of folklore and prejudice in a small Mississippi town.
The festival, which focuses on issues faced by contemporary women, continues through Feb. 22.
The first weekend of the festival features Facing East, written and performed by Erika Batdorf, Jan. 30 at 8 PM; and A Story's a Story, a one-woman play written by Debra Lubar and Naava Piatka and starring Lubar.
The festival also includes an adult puppet show, Puppet Slam, Feb. 15 and 20 at 8 PM; and a benefit performance of Washed Up, Middle-Aged Women, Feb. 7 at 8 PM.
Boston Women on Top is co-produced by Centastage and Underground Railway. Performances are at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont St. For more information, call (781) 643-6916.
