The award, which has been given annually since 1999, will be presented to 3Graces executive director Chelsea Silverman at Sardi's Restaurant June 12. The presentation will be part of the League's Ruth Morley Design Award Luncheon.
In a statement Harriet Slaughter, co-president of The League of Professional Theatre Women said, "Your theatre's excellence drew our attention to your mission statement and the quality of your presentation emulates the spirit of Lucille Lortel who established a grant for this award for the League."
The League's Lucille Lortel Committee searches each year for "women in any discipline of theatre who show creative promise and deserve recognition and encouragement by providing a $2500 award for the work which best exemplifies this purpose."
Founded in 2004, 3Graces Theater Co.'s mission is to "stage women's stories, deliver solid dramaturgy, build a strong ensemble, and give back to the community."
The League's Luncheon is open to the public; for reservations call (212) 501-6667. Tickets are $35 per person by check only at the door. For more information visit www.theatrewomen.org or www.ThreeGracesTheater.org.
