News 9 to 5: The Musical to Receive British Stage Premiere at Manchester's Opera House, Followed by Tour 9 to 5: The Musical, the 2009 Broadway musical version of the 1980 film of the same name, is to receive its U.K. stage premiere, beginning a run at Manchester's Opera House Oct. 12 for a run through Oct. 20.

It will then embark on a U.K. national tour, visiting London's New Wimbledon Theatre, Sunderland's Empire, Woking's New Victoria, Glasgow's King's Theatre, Stoke's Regent Theatre, Edinburgh's Playhouse, Oxford's New Theatre, Brighton's Theatre Royal, and Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre, with further dates to be announced.

Written by Patricia Resnick with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, it is directed by Jeff Calhoun (currently represented on Broadway by his production of Disney's Newsies).

In a press statement, Parton has commented, "I am so excited that 9 to 5 the Musical is coming to the UK. I'm hoping that you have as much fun watching it as I had writing the music for it. 9 to 5 the Musical is perfect for anyone that's ever wanted to string up their boss, which is almost all of us. So come join the fun."

The score features 18 original Dolly Parton numbers including the hit title song which won her an Oscar nomination, plus songs from her last two albums.
The tour is produced by Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Gorup and Bob Bartner. Casting is still to be announced.
