"Show tunes" may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of John Gielgud, but the late actor director's taste for musical theatre will be represented in a unique evening, A Tribute to Sir John Gielgud in Song, Sonnet and Story, April 19 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

For the 6:30 PM presentation, Steve Ross will emcee a program "focusing on songs from a few of Sir John's favorite musicals (Chu Chin Chow, Show Boat); songs by Ivor Novello; and reminiscences and readings by friends of Sir John Gielgud, including Paula Laurence, Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson." The evening is part of the ongoing series, "Ages of a Man: A Centennial Tribute to Sir John Gielgud."

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center is at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza. All programs are held in the Library's Bruno Walter Auditorium.
