‘Tis the season for holiday concerts and cabarets. Tony Award nominee Megan Hilty offers a stint at Joe’s Pub, cabaret artist Tori Scott tells why Vodka is the Reason for the Season, and Broadway’s best line up for the annual Sparkle benefit. A Merry Little Christmas With Megan Hilty
December 2-3 and 6 at 9:30 PM; December 4-5 at 7 PM
Megan Hilty will return to Joe’s Pub with an intimate evening celebrating the release of her new holiday album: A Merry Little Christmas. The set will include classics like “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Count Your Blessings,” and “The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year,” mixed with songs from her career on stage and screen.

Tori Scott: Vodka is the Reason for the Season
December 5 at 9:30 PM
Tori Scott returns to Joe’s Pub with her third annual holiday show, an evening of “lingering regret, slurred autobiographical stories, and songs written by other people.” Vodka is the Reason for the Season includes songs by Dolly Parton, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Florence and the Machine, Ella Fitzgerald, and more.
Co-written by Scott and her longtime collaborator Adam Hetrick, the evening is directed by Sklar-Heyn with musical direction by Jesse Kissel.

Justin Vivian Bond: The Bipolar Express
December 12-15 at 9:30 PM; December 19-23 at 9:30 PM
At The Bipolar Express, Justin Vivian Bond and band (Matt Ray, Claudia Chopek, and NathAnn Carrera) are ”on the holiday spectrum and are about to go off the rails, where will they land? Whether it is crack alley or hobo heaven you are guaranteed to see stars!”

Laurie Beechman Theatre

The Holiday Project
December 5 at 7 PM
Conceived and directed by Eric Michael Gillett with music direction by Alvin Hough, Jr., the evening will feature Karen Akers, Kelli Barrett, Jarrod Spector, KT Sullivan, and Stephane Duret.

The Holiday Project will be the final 2016 Songbook Project sponsored by EMGCollective/Singers Forum AEA Scholarship Program. Proceeds will benefit Benjamin House, a home for mentally disabled adults in Elizabeth City, NC.

Grab ‘Em by the Jingle Bells
December 12 at 7 PM
Described as “a candy-cane-infused, Santa Claus mug of eggnog that’s one part Broadway, two parts Donald Trump and three parts Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” the evening will feature Broadway performers singing your favorite carols, your least favorite carols, and original Christmas tunes.

Don’t Tell Mama

Bill Nelson’s Nutcrackin’ Christmas
December 5 at 7 PM and 9:30 PM
Rosiland Brown and Linedy Genao star in the one-night, all-original, holiday brouhaha. With a collection of eclectic composers, lyricist Bill Nelson has written the holiday songs “you didn’t know you needed.”

Composers include Will Aronson, Rick Bassett, Anna K. Jacobs, David Mallamud, Willem Oosthuysen, Adam Sakiyama, Katya Stanislavskaya, Joseph Trefler, and Nadav Wiesel.

The evening also features Christiana Cole, Christina D. Eskridge, Cathleen Oliva, Larry Owens, Jay Paranada, and Aaron Phillips, with a special appearance by Ms. Ermine Muff. Jason Sirois music directs and co-hosts.

Sparkle: An All-Star Holiday Concert
December 4 at 7:30 PM
A benefit for The Actors Fund, Sparkle is back in NYC for the fifth year in a row.
Produced and hosted by Scott Nevins, scheduled to perform are Max von Essen, Erich Bergen, Julia Murney, Tom Lenk, Blake McIver, Matt Doyle, Nick Adams, Lacretta Nicole, Kristy Cates, Marty Thomas, Erin Quill, and more.

Benjamin Rauhala serves as the show’s music director and arranger, and Will Stone serves as the background vocal arranger.
