A Night with Janis Joplin celebrates rock-n-roll legend Joplin and her biggest musical influences, including icons Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith. Conceived, written and directed by Randy Johnson, the rock musical features choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Michael J. Moritz Jr. The story, which chronicles Joplin's musical journey and sudden fame, features some of the singer's greatest hits: "Piece of My Heart," "Cry Baby" and "Me and Bobby McGee." It opened on Broadway in October 2013 and played through Feb. 9, 2014.
Beginning in Toronto, the tour will play Ridgefield, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, St. Louis, Kansas City, Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans and Jacksonville, among other locations. The tour will conclude in Charleston, SC, April 24.
