There's been a crop of plays in the past few years about aspiring young pianists including Old Wicked Songs and Two Pianos, Four Hands. And now there's a new musical by Frumi Cohen, A Show of Hands, about eight young pianists who are thrown together in the same room while waiting for the judges' decision at a piano competition. (The musical received a first-place prize at the 1997 Ft. Collins Festival for Contemporary Musical Theatre Competition.)
There will be a staged reading of A Show of Hands Mar. 23 at the Collaborative Arts Project 21 in NY Mar. 23 at 7 PM.
The director is Gerald Van Heerden and the musical dirctor is Eric K. Johnston.
