News Abramovitz Will Be a Funny Girl for Westchester Broadway Theatre Jill Abramovitz will star as Fanny Brice in the Westchester Broadway Playhouse production of Funny Girl, which begins performances March 26.

Westchester veteran Donald E. Birely directs the Jule Styne-Bob Merrill musical that will officially open April 4 and run through June 14. Funny Girl replaces the previously announced production of Maury Yeston and Peter Stone's Titanic.

Joining Abramovitz (Fame Becomes Me, The Yellow Wood, Junie B. Jones) will be Grant Norman as Nicky Arnstein, Kilty Reidy as Eddie Ryan, Louisa Flaningam as Mrs. Brice, Gary Lemkueler as Florenze Zeigfeld, Dawn Newman as Emma, Karen McDonald as Mrs. Strakosh and Roger Preston Smith as Mr. Keeney.

The ensemble of Funny Girl will feature Mark Donaldson, Debi Guthery, Synthia Link, Benji Randall, Rusty Reynolds, Morgan Rose, Kimberly Schafer, Steve Schepis, Hayley Sharples, Karla Shook, Kent Zimmerman and Darcy Yellin.

Funny Girl has choreography by Michael Susko, musical direction by Jeff Tanski and a creative team including Steve Loftus (set design), Andrew Gmoser (lighting design), Jon Hatton (sound design) and Matthew Hemesath (costume design).

The 1964 musical, which earned Barbra Streisand a Tony nomination and an Oscar for the subsequent film, follows the career and personal life of legendary comedienne Fanny Brice. Songs in the production include "Don't Rain On My Parade," "People," "The Music That Makes Me Dance," "I'm the Greatest Star," "You Are Woman," "Sadie, Sadie" and "Who Are You Now?"
