The adobe theatre company's latest example of its loopy, storybook form of theatre, Jeremy Dobrish's Orpheus and Eurydice, completes its extended run at the Ohio Theatre, Nov. 19. The show opened there Oct. 19, after previews from Oct. 11.

In the Greek myth, Orpheus journeys down to Hades to rescue his wife, Eurydice, by charming Pluto and Persephone with his lyre. But Dobrish's Orpheus has no lyre. He has an electric guitar, plus groupies and a rock band called In Your Thrace. The glory of the concert arena goes stale, however, once our hero meets the elusive Eurydice, "a wood nymph about whom traditional mythology tells us little."

A positive New York Times review helped extend the show by two weeks (with ticket prices raised from $12 to $20 during the extension). Dobrish, who also directs, is the artistic director of the adobe, which has presented such whimsical works as Duet!, Poona the Fuckdog, Down the Drain and Notions in Motions. The latter, an adaptation of Pirandello, was penned by Dobrish.

In the cast are Andrew Elvis Miller, Kathryn Langwell, Jeremy Brisiel, Arthur Aulisl, Erin Quinn Purcell (star and co-author of Duet!, who here plays Atalanta and Death), Jennifer Ward, Vin Knight and Adam Smith.

Tickets are $20. The Ohio is located at 66 Wooster Street. For more information, call (212) 279-4200.
